When it comes to product design in health and healing services, the products that are offered, especially Johnson & Johnsons, are simplistic and nothing near revolutionary. Most of their products like Tylenol, BAND-AIDs, Zyrtec, and Listerine come in single use plastic bottles or paper boxes. There is plenty of room for a breakthrough in design, but none seem to have come about. One advancement in Johnson and Johnson marketing, though, comes from Listerine, their mouthwash product. Instead of the classic thick plastic bottle that the product usually comes in, they’ve introduced a more portable design that comes in less packaging. Their Listerine Ready Tablets are tablets that act the same as the liquid mouthwash. This reduces the consumer overusing the mouthwash and prolongs the lifespan of a purchase. Without a large plastic bottle, the tablets offer a product that’s easier to transport and dispose of.
