My name is Cooper Leslie and I am a junior here at William and Mary. I’m a double major in Environmental Science and Biology, looking to focus my career in the conservation biology field. My experience is no where near in depth, but I’ve had some interesting internships in Pennsylvania’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Department of Environmental Protection. During those, I performed visitor and maintenance services; participated in meetings discussing resource management at a state park; helped to monitor and document vernal pools; conducted water quality monitoring and lake aquatic species control; and collected black flies and mosquito larvae from flooded areas to identify and send to West Nile testing. Since my focuses have mostly been outdoors, I haven’t had much experience on different aspects of sustainability like policy or design. My design experience is quite limited, so this course will be a learning experience for me. At the College, I run for the Cross Country and Track and Field team and have enjoyed my time traveling and making good friends through the program, but I hope it doesn’t interfere too much with missing class.
